Citizens' Band Radio in India: How frequently we use it?

I never used a CB radio for communication purpose, and now we are so obsessed (Top 43 signs you are obsessed with your cell phone) with our cell phone that we don't even care if it exists. What is a CB or Citizens' Band Radio? In India, it is a simplest radio communications between individuals on a selection of 40 channels within the 27 MHz (11 meter) band.

Unlike HAM radio (see my last post) it does not require any license to operate at designated bands. It is always better if you take a look into WPC's remarks in National Frequency Allocation Table. As far as I know there is no limitations on subjects we discuss over CB radio but interestingly all channels are open and others can hear you if they are tuned into same frequency band; it is important when you are hiking or doing some other activities like high altitude mountaineering or during rescue operations. In CB radio based communication channels work in shared basis, if someone transmitting over a particular channel you need to wait until the channel becomes free.
